Within the Coatings division, Elementis develops and markets rheological modifiers and a range of additives tailored for industrial finishes, architectural paints, construction materials, adhesives, sealants, printing inks, colorant dispersions, and numerous specialized ... uses. This segment also provides bentonite and hectorite clays, along with polymer-based additives crucial for drilling, simulation, and cementing operations. The Talc segment is responsible for extracting and distributing talc, which is integral to the production of plastics, paints and coatings, food and pharmaceutical items, ceramics, polyester putties, and within the paper and pulp industries. Elementis' Chromium division manufactures a diverse array of chromium chemicals, including chromic oxide, chromic acid, chrome sulfate, sodium dichromate, and sodium sulfate. These compounds find extensive utility in areas such as pigments, cosmetics, refractories, chrome metal manufacturing, finishing processes for metals and plastics, wood treatment, leather tanning, trivalent metal finishing, various coatings, and metal passivation. Moreover, they are employed in the formulation of detergents, glasses, papers, and starches. Beyond these core operations, Elementis plc also supplies a broader range of products, such as personal care formulations, waxes, various additives and resins, organoclays, colorants, and other specialized chemical enhancements. Established in 1844, Elementis plc maintains its corporate headquarters in London, UK.

Elementis plc (LSE:ELM) shares rose 6.2% to 161.2p after the speciality chemicals group completed the sale of its pharmaceutical manufacturing business to Associated British Foods PLC (LSE:ABF) and said it would return the proceeds to shareholders through a share buyback. The company confirmed completion of the disposal for an enterprise value of €34.3 million ($39.8 million) and, after transaction costs, expects to receive net cash proceeds of about €30 million (roughly $35 million), all of which will be returned to shareholders via a share repurchase programme that is expected to begin as soon as practicable.
